Taylor Swift vs. Adele: Why Multiplying the Offer Beat Blocking Streaming It’s not just fixing the product or service. Start multiplying the offers. Taylor Swift just did what most thought was impossible: she outsold Adele. Her new album The Life of a Showgirl sold more than 4 million copies in five days, breaking a record that lasted nearly ten years. Swift didn’t block streaming like Adele did in 2015. She did the opposite. She expanded the offer. There weren’t just one or two versions of her album. There were thirty-eight. CDs, vinyl, digital, cassettes. Some came with acoustic versions. Others had voice memos or jewelry. Same songs, new reasons to buy. That’s not just music marketing. That’s smart offer design. Most fans didn’t buy just because they needed another album. They bought because they wanted to feel closer to her story, to own a piece of it. What can we learn from her methods? 1️⃣ Be Different!  While many artists followed the same playbook, Swift rewrote hers. She made her music an experience, not just a release. 2️⃣ Add layers of value. Different people care about different things: exclusivity, design, convenience, emotion. Create versions that speak to each of them. 3️⃣ Design for emotion, not function. Half of vinyl buyers don’t even own a record player. They’re not buying playback, they’re buying belonging. 4️⃣ Use honest scarcity. Swift released limited 24-hour versions. You can do the same with time-limited offers, early access bonuses, or exclusive experiences. 5️⃣ Turn customers into your marketing team. When fans debate which version to get, they’re promoting her for free. Create moments worth sharing. The numbers prove it her approach works! Ninety-three percent of sales came from the top five versions. You don’t need endless options—just a few strong ones. Swift didn’t just make a new album. She made it impossible to ignore. That’s the real advantage today, not just building better things, but building better offers around them. https://lnkd.in/ekgbZgKt
