It’s easy to blame faceless corporations when rents skyrocket, but that’s like blaming fast food for obesity. Big investors aren’t the only ones driving housing chaos. Cities block new builds to “protect the character,” historic low rates keep supply locked, and inflation makes it absurdly expensive to build anything. The FTC’s study might uncover some bad actors, but if we want real change, we need more than a villain—we need a plan.
